Từ cuộc thi đến hành trình học tập quốc tế: Khi thành tích được tiếp nối bằng những trải nghiệm thực tiễn

Last July, outstanding participants of the Global Chinese Speaking Challenge 2026 travelled to Chengdu, China, for a cultural and academic exchange programme—a special opportunity awarded to top-performing participants.

More than a reward following the competition, the programme was designed to extend the learning journey beyond assessment, giving participants the opportunity to use Chinese in authentic academic, social, and cultural settings.

As the organising partner of the Global Chinese Speaking Challenge in Vietnam, VietEdra, together with Quippy and international education partners, aims to create opportunities that go beyond recognising language proficiency—connecting learners with meaningful academic and cultural experiences.

Learning Chinese Beyond the Classroom

A key feature of the Chengdu programme was the integration of language learning with real-world experiences. Rather than treating classroom learning and cultural exposure as separate activities, the programme brought them together as part of a continuous learning journey.

Participants took part in a range of activities, including:

• Practical Chinese classes focused on topics such as Chengdu, travel, communication, and everyday expression.
• Chinese calligraphy workshops, combining cultural learning with opportunities to practise written and spoken Chinese.
• Academic and campus activities, including university visits, group work, and opportunities to interact and communicate in Chinese.
• Cultural experiences across Chengdu, including visits to the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, Kuanzhai Alley, Taikoo Li, Jinli Ancient Street, and a Sichuan Opera performance.

The academic programme was designed and delivered by Chengdu University, Quippy’s academic partner for the Global Chinese Speaking Challenge. The lessons, communication activities, and cultural experiences were structured to encourage participants to apply their language skills in authentic contexts.

This continuity between the competition and the academic exchange is an important part of the programme. Assessment does not mark the end of the learning process; it can provide a pathway to further learning, application, and international exposure.

Turning Achievement into Continued Development

The value of the Global Chinese Speaking Challenge lies not only in recognising what learners can achieve, but also in creating opportunities for them to take their learning further.

By bringing together assessment, learning, and real-world experience, the programme enables participants to apply their Chinese beyond the classroom, deepen their cultural understanding, and build greater confidence in intercultural communication.

This approach also reflects Quippy’s broader direction in language learning and assessment.
