VietEdra Appointed as NILE’s Official Authorised Representative in Vietnam

VietEdra has been officially appointed by Norwich Institute for Language Education (NILE), UK, as its Official Authorised Representative in Vietnam, expanding access to international professional development programmes in EMI, CLIL and AI for Teaching.

The appointment marks a new stage in the partnership between NILE and VietEdra, bringing together NILE’s international expertise in teacher education and professional development with VietEdra’s local knowledge and implementation capabilities in Vietnam.

Through this partnership, schools, universities and education organisations in Vietnam will have greater opportunities to access professional development programmes that respond to evolving priorities in English-medium education, internationalisation and the responsible use of AI in teaching and learning.

Over 30 years of expertise in teacher education and professional development

Established in Norwich, UK, in 1995, NILE (Norwich Institute for Language Education) specialises in teacher education and professional development.

Over the past 30 years, NILE has worked with more than 90,000 educators across over 100 countries, collaborating with ministries of education, universities and teacher education organisations worldwide.

NILE’s work spans a broad range of professional development areas, with programmes designed to connect international expertise with educators’ professional practice and institutional priorities.

NILE and VietEdra: Bringing international expertise to Vietnam

As NILE’s Official Authorised Representative in Vietnam, VietEdra is authorised to represent NILE in Vietnam, introduce and promote NILE’s programmes, develop institutional partnerships, discuss programme and commercial matters, prepare proposals in coordination with NILE, and coordinate local programme implementation.

This role enables VietEdra to work closely with schools, universities and education organisations to understand their professional development priorities and connect them with relevant NILE programmes.

The partnership currently includes three key areas:

English-Medium Instruction (EMI) in Higher Education

EMI in Higher Education supports university lecturers who teach, or are preparing to teach, their academic subjects through English.

Rather than focusing solely on English proficiency, the programme develops the pedagogical capabilities required for effective English-medium instruction, including lesson design, supporting students’ understanding of subject content, academic speaking and writing, assessment and feedback, and the selection and adaptation of teaching materials.

Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL)

CLIL supports teachers in integrating subject learning with language development. It is particularly relevant to bilingual and English-medium educational contexts where teachers need to balance subject learning objectives with students’ language needs.

AI for Teaching

AI for Teaching explores practical and responsible approaches to using artificial intelligence across teaching, learning and assessment.

As AI becomes increasingly present in education, professional development can help educators move beyond individual tools and consider how AI can be incorporated effectively and appropriately into their teaching practice.

Building educator capacity for English-medium education in Vietnam

The partnership comes at a significant time for English-medium education in Vietnam.

Decree No. 222/2025/ND-CP, effective from 25 September 2025, provides a regulatory framework for teaching and learning through foreign languages in educational institutions. Vietnam is also advancing its broader ambition to make English a second language in schools, placing increasing attention on the quality of English-medium teaching and the capacity of educators to deliver it effectively.

For universities in particular, expanding the number of subjects taught in English is only one part of the process. Effective English-Medium Instruction (EMI) also requires lecturers to develop the pedagogical skills needed to communicate complex subject knowledge, facilitate student participation and support academic learning through English.

Professional development therefore plays an important role in helping institutions move from the ambition to offer more English-medium programmes towards building the teaching capacity required to deliver them effectively.

Supporting the long-term development of educators in Vietnam

Through the partnership, NILE and VietEdra aim to support a broader institutional priority: developing educators who are prepared for an increasingly international, English-medium and technology-enabled teaching environment.

By combining NILE’s international expertise with VietEdra’s understanding of the Vietnamese education landscape, programmes can be aligned more closely with the priorities, teaching contexts and development needs of individual institutions.

VietEdra will continue to work with NILE and education partners across Vietnam to develop institutional partnerships and expand access to professional development in EMI, CLIL, AI for Teaching and related areas of educator development.
